AP Government students visit Board of Elections office

Students in Mr. Ryan Brueckmann’s AP U.S. Government and Politics class took a field trip to the St. Louis County Board of Elections office on Tuesday. The learning opportunity included a tour of the office and hands-on experience using real voting equipment raising students’ interest to be part of the election process.

Pattonville Gives returns for a second season

Pattonville High School senior Haley Edmonds is excited to kick off the second annual Pattonville Gives Holiday Gift Giving project. 

Pattonville Gives is a giving-tree program specific to the needs of the students and families in the Pattonville School District.

If you would like to help, please visit the district’s website and click on the Pattonville Gives tab. Then, choose a school and select an item for a student.

All donations must be returned to the selected school by Friday, Dec. 17. This will give the staff time to organize and deliver them before Winter Break.

Drill teams win awards at Lindbergh Invitational

The varsity and JV drill teams competed at the Lindbergh Invitational and won several awards. Varsity swept the competition winning first place in pom and hip hop and took home a precision award in pom. JV placed second in the hip hop and pom categories in the 1A division.

Filing for Pattonville school board opens Dec. 7

Filing for positions on the Pattonville Board of Education begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, and ends at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28. Persons interested in running for a position on the Pattonville school board may file at the Pattonville Learning Center, 11097 St. Charles Rock Road in St. Ann. Candidates will be placed on the ballot in order of filing. Two positions are available with three-year terms during the April 5, 2022, election. Board members whose terms are expiring are Mary Kay Campbell and Ruth Petrov.

Culinary Arts students earn ServSafe certificates

Thirty-three students in Mary Favazza’s Introduction to Culinary Arts class at Pattonville High School earned their ServSafe Food Handler Certificate this semester. ServSafe is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the National Restaurant Association. Each student is now certified until 2024.

Two art students to be published in this year's 100 Neediest Cases campaign

Seven students from Pattonville High School submitted artwork to the 100 Neediest Cases art contest sponsored by the United Way and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. 
 
Art by sophomore Macy Bunton and senior Caleb Simpkins was selected to be among the top 40 entries and will appear in the print and/or online editions beginning Nov. 21.
 
Additionally, the following students submitted work and will be on display at the Missouri History Museum from Dec. 6 to Jan. 3: Jada Brown, Aileen Cortez Gomez, Payton Crump-McHugh, Jessica Hurtado and Michael Montoya Jr.
