Two graduates declare for 2022 NFL Draft

Pattonville High School graduates Kaleb Eleby and Marquis Hayes Jr. announced on social media this week they will be entering the 2022 NFL Draft which starts on Thursday, April 28, and will continue through Saturday. 

So will the former Pirates become Buccaneers? Or at least continue wearing green with the Packers, Jets or Eagles? Who do you want them to play for?

Preschool open enrollment begins Feb. 1

Registration for the Pattonville Early Childhood Center opens on Feb. 1, 2022. Pattonville School District offers a full-day tuition based preschool and a free integrated half-day preschool program. Children must be 3 years old by July 31 of the current school year.

Nominations for Teacher, Support Staff of the Year now being accepted

Each year, Pattonville School District provides the opportunity for students, staff and parents to honor employees who make a difference through the Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year recognition programs. The honorees of these programs exemplify what it means to be part of the Pattonville community. Nomination forms for the Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year awards are available on the Pattonville website at www.psdr3.org/nominate and throughout the district.

Taylor selected as an Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award recipient

Pattonville High School English learner teacher Eleanor Taylor was selected as a recipient of the 2021 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. The annual program recognizes St. Louis area instructors, selected by their schools’ administrators, for their accomplishments and dedication to their students and the teaching profession.

Taylor received an engraved crystal apple from Tiffany & Co., along with additional prizes. Emerson recognized the 85 honorees in a commemorative advertisement that appeared in the Sunday edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Nov. 21.

Four residents file for open seats on Pattonville school board

Four candidates filed to be placed on the April 5 election ballot to fill two open seats on Pattonville Board of Education. Those who filed to serve a three-year term on the board are, in order of filing, Daniel Wentz, incumbent Mary Kay Campbell, Summer Johnson and Akeia P. Mathis. Board members whose terms are expiring are Campbell and Ruth Petrov.

Two students recognized for their submissions in the Congressional App Challenge

Two students were recognized by Congressperson Ann Wagner for their hard work and ingenuity in the 2nd District of Missouri’s Congressional App Challenge of 2021. They are Pattonville High School sophomore Sai Dorasani and Pattonville Heights Middle School eighth grader Parker Hasenkamp.

The judging team from LaunchCode chose Dorasani’s Envo Recycle app as the second place winner. Hasenkamp participated in the competition submitting his GPA Calculator app.
