Six 2020 graduates of Pattonville High School earned the Missouri's Seal of Biliteracy.
Erik Bustillo Sierra earned the Distinguished Missouri Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish and Abdulmohaimen Al Yuwaili and Harith Al Yuwaili earned the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy in Arabic, Madina Nigmonjonova earned the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy in Russian, Eric Estrada Lopez earned the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, and Kate Teku earned the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy in French. All six graduated from Pattonville last May.
Pattonville High School senior Mya Harris was awarded a four year all-expense paid scholarship to the college or university of her choice. After delivering a national qualifying speech for debate about the politics of Black hair, Harris was offered a summer internship with the Simmons Hanly Conroy law firm. She was not only the first high schooler to earn an internship with the law firm, but she has been chosen as the first SHC Scholar. In a public statement: “As an SHC Scholar, hard work and a commitment to speech and debate has afforded Mya a life changing opportunity.” Harris plans to pursue her dream of becoming a biomedical engineer or a bioethical attorney with hopes of paving a new path for girls of color.
The annual Black History Month Living Museum event at Remington Traditional has been held for more than 20 years at the school and second grade teacher Ms. Libby Hilker did not want to see the tradition end due to the pandemic.
The Lighthouse Leadership Environment team at Rose Acres encouraged all staff members to decorate their doors for Valentine’s Day.
