Pattonville High School receives national PLTW recognition

Pattonville High School has been recognized as a 2021-2022 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School. It is one of just 191 high schools across the U.S. to receive this honor for providing broad access to transformative learning experiences for students through PLTW [Computer Science, Biomedical Science, Engineering]. It is the second straight year Pattonville High School has received this award.

Ramig redeems Briar Crest coupon from Pecoraro over 15 years later

As principal at Briar Crest Elementary School from 2001 to 2007, Tim Pecoraro awarded staff members like Jill Ramig with coupons they could redeem for 30 minutes of classroom coverage by him. 

He thought all of the coupons had been used, but the current Remington Traditional School library technology specialist, who was a reading specialist at Briar Crest, still had hers, and wanted to make sure she redeemed it before Pecoraro retires at the end of the school year.

She surprised him with the coupon – which did not have an expiration date – last week.

On May 18, Pecoraro read to kindergarteners at Remington Traditional who are taught by another former Briar Crest teacher, Jill Kruse.

Pattonville High School announced and recognized the school’s Top 10 seniors based on grade point averages after seven semesters of high school. These students have grade point averages (GPAs) that fall between a 4.6 and a 4.75 on a weighted scale.

The Top 10 seniors in the Pattonville Class of 2022, their declared majors and the universities they will attend are:

  • 2. Keilah Wilkes, biological engineering, University of Hawai’i at Manoa in Honolulu.

Poetry by middle school students selected for publication

Fourteen students from Pattonville Heights Middle School had poems selected for publication in “Empowered - We’ve Got the Power.” The national poetry contest for middle and high school students was coordinated by Young Writers USA.

Today, seventh grade English language arts teacher Tara Jones transformed her classroom to Jones’ Cafe to celebrate all of the students that submitted and were accepted for publication. Each student received a certificate and enjoyed donuts as volunteers read their poem aloud to the group.
