Petrov appointed to open board position

On Aug. 8, the board voted to appoint Ruth Petrov to fill an open seat on the Pattonville Board of Education that was vacated by board director Andrea Glenn. Petrov took the oath of office during the board meeting on Aug. 9.

Gruber named MoASBO board president

Pattonville School District’s chief financial officer Mary Jo Gruber CPA, SFO, is the Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO) board president for the 2022-2023 school year.
 
Gruber has been a MoASBO member since 1999 and is the new CFO for Pattonville School District. Previously she served as the CFO for the School District of Clayton from 2011 to 2022, and Clayton’s director of accounting from 2000 to 2011. She also served as the business manager for the former Wellston School District and as an auditor and audit manager in the private sector.

Iffrig selected as a national Teacher of Excellence award recipient

Pattonville High School driver education teacher Tom Iffrig was selected as a national Teacher of Excellence award recipient by The National Road Safety Foundation and the American Driver & Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA).
 
Five Teachers of Excellence were honored on July 25 at the ADTSEA national conference in Vancouver, Washington, where they will present innovative lesson plans to their peers.
 
In May, Iffrig was named the 2022 Missouri Teacher Excellence Award nominee by the Missouri Driver Safety Education Association (MODSEA) during its annual state conference.

Drill team has success at UDA camp

Congratulations to the Pattonville High School varsity and junior varsity drill team programs for their performances at UDA camp hosted at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis.
 
Varsity got first place with their home routine performance along with a Superior trophy and also received the Leadership Award that was voted on by other teams. The JV team also earned first place with their home routine performance along with a Superior trophy.
 
Individually, VDT members Kaylee Cofer and Sabrina Vargas were both selected to the Senior All-American team, and two drill team members were selected by UDA staff or a member from another team to receive the Pin It Forward award. This award is given to individuals who show outstanding leadership, communication and maturity. They were JV team member Amaya Hinga and varsity team member Zaria Purvey who received two Pin It Forward awards.
