For the first time since December 2019, an in-person concert was held at Holman Middle School. The sixth, seventh and eighth grade Villemade and in-person band students took a “field trip” to Gym A to perform for one another.
“Performing for other people is so important,” Holman band director Steve White said. “The sixth graders have actually never played for anybody so they kept saying they were really nervous.”
In Pattonville, a student’s band experience starts in middle school.
“They just started playing their instruments this year,” White said. “They learned how to do things over Zoom just like everybody else, and now we’re able to come together and do things like this.”
Today’s presentation was in lieu of their traditional end-of-the-year evening concert but band directors White and Adam Hall recorded each grade’s performances.
“Now we are going to edit it and put it together in a big iMovie and share it with the families,” White said.
