In its 58th year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete program honors one student from every area school, a requirement being that they participate in athletics and excel in the classroom.

High school holds Decision Day on May 7

Pattonville High School held its own special version of Decision Day on May 7, coinciding with National College Decision Day which was on May 1. Pattonville's celebration extended beyond college decisions to honor all seniors and their post-graduation plans, whether it involves college, trade school, military service, apprenticeships or entering the workforce.

Pattonville ranked on U.S. News and World Report's Best High Schools list

Congratulations graphic on school honorPattonville High School is ranked among the top high schools in Missouri and the nation on U.S. News and World Report’s 2024 Best High Schools list. Pattonville ranked as No. 40 out of 618 high schools in Missouri, placing it in the Top 6% of high schools in the state. Nationally, Pattonville ranked 3,711 out of 17,655 schools, putting it in the top 21%.

This is the 11th time Pattonville earned a spot on U.S. News’ Best High Schools list in the last 12 years. The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments, how well they prepare students for college and graduation rate. PHS student wins 2023 Congressional App Challenge

Sai Dorasani is shown displaying information about her app at her table with Congresswoman Cori Bush.U.S. Representative Cori Bush named senior Sai Dorasani as the winner of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge for the 1st District of Missouri. Dorasani earned the honor for Envo Recycling, an image recognition app for a trash can that helps people decide whether to compost, recycle or trash an item with a snap of a camera. The app can recognize specific items, including an envelope, water bottle, apple or plastic bag and state where to put each item.

105 students selected by staff as Pattonville High School MVPs

Staff members at Pattonville High School presented their MVP (Most Valuable Pirate) Awards to 105 students in grades nine through 12. Each staff member selected one outstanding student to receive an MVP medallion award during a special awards ceremony at the school on April 25. 

High school teachers and support staff annually select a student to honor for Most Valuable Pirate. Any student is eligible for nomination, regardless of the reason. There's no strict criteria — they can be selected based on academic excellence, overcoming obstacles, worth ethic, personality, character, extracurricular participation, and more. 

Four students were selected as an MVP for the third time. Seventeen students were second time recipients and 84 were first-time recipients.
