High school students qualify for international HOSA competiton

Four Pattonville High School students qualified to compete at the international HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) competition this summer after earning awards at the state level. Sixteen Pattonville students competed in the virtual HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) State Leadership Conference over spring break.

Two groups finished in the top 5 of their events: Seniors Jadyn Powell, Griffin Wick, Teidrick Banks and Jas Rai placed fifth in HOSA Bowl; and juniors Loudin Cato, Esther Gbloesse, Chloe Kerwin and Lauren Marsala earned first place and are international qualifiers in Creative Problem Solving. They will compete virtually at the International Leadership Conference at the end of June.

Richter selected as Middle/Junior High Art Educator of the Year

Holman Middle School art teacher Montie Richter was selected as the 2021 Middle/Junior High Art Educator of the Year. She was announced as the recipient in January and was officially recognized during the awards program of the Missouri Art Education Association (MAEA) spring conference on March 27.

PNEA, League of Women Voters to host Pattonville school board forum

The Pattonville National Education Association (PNEA) and the League of Women Voters of St. Louis will host a virtual board candidate forum on Wednesday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. featuring candidates for the Pattonville School District Board of Education. The public is invited to attend this free forum.

Heyman named MOSPRA New Professional of the Year

Brian Heyman, multimedia communications specialist for the Pattonville School District, has been named the Missouri School Public Relations Association’s 2021 New Professional of the Year.

The primary criteria for the New Professional of the Year Award are that the recipient is in their first 18 months in the field of public relations and has exhibited a creative, dedicated and professional approach to school communications.

Parkwood young scientists earn awards for projects

Students at Parkwood wrapped up their Virtual STEAM Fair and paraprofessional Brandy Fowler distributed certificates and ribbons to the winners last week.

“Those receiving honors will advance to the area-wide science fair, an event that normally takes place at Queeny Park with over 200 schools,” she said.

CDC releases results of COVID-19 school study involving Pattonville

Dear Pattonville families and staff,

Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the results of a study on COVID-19 transmission in schools that was conducted in partnership with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), Saint Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis. As we previously shared with you, Pattonville joined other schools in Missouri to assist with this project as a way to help assess the district’s COVID-19 prevention strategies.
